Low intensity blast in Mokokchung NPF official’s house

A low intensity bomb went off at the residential compound of Lanukaba Imchen, the president of Farmers Wing of NPF Mokokchung, at around 6 pm today. However, no one was injured in the blast.
The blast took place when Lanukaba along with his wife and their domestic help were having dinner after he returned from an NPF Division meeting in Mokokchung.
Eye witnesses of the incident were a group of children who were playing in the neighbourhood. According to them, a young man after throwing the explosive ran away from the site but they could not identify him.
Wife of Lanukaba said as soon as the sound of the explosion was heard, she along with the rest rushed to their neighbours’ house in shock.
A police official who went to the spot said it is suspected the explosion was caused by a gelatin bomb.
An FIR has been lodged by Lanukaba in this connection.
SI of Mokokchung PS Mokokienba said nobody was injured in the incident as the blast occurred at the shed where firewood was kept.
