Kumlong residents prepare for golden jubilee

Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): The people of Kumlong Ward, Mokokchung undertook a cleanliness drive in the colony on September 28 as a prelude to its upcoming golden jubilee celebration.

A press release issued by Longrangty Longchar informed that the programme was initiated by the Golden Jubilee Planning Committee, ward council and supported by the Kumlong Environment Committee and the Kumlong Lanur Telongjem (Kumlong Youth Union). The residents of the colony cleaned the whole area, including footpaths to ancient ‘Kumlong’ rock, which is located about a kilometre downhill from Kumlong.

The Kumlong Ward, which is one of the oldest colonies in Mokokchung town, has also taken up preservation of environment as one of its priorities to address as part of its golden jubilee celebration on October 8. The update informed that the colony had invested on environment and biodiversity conservation during the three-year planning programme under the convenorship of C Tia Longkumer.

The chairman of Kumlong Ward Council, Lanu Imchen, and Longkumer have expressed gratitude to all those who took part in the cleanliness drive.
