Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): Nagaland unit of the Janata Dal United (JDU) has appealed to all three major political parties particularly the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ‘walk the talk’ not only within Nagaland but also outside the state especially at a time when the Indo-Naga political issue has entered into a very crucial stage.

Nagaland JDU, in a statement issued on Wednesday, has called upon all the major political parties to remain united and display commitment as enshrined in their respective manifestos at least for an issue on Naga political problem.

Nagaland JDU has expressed anguish to see ‘the state of imbroglio between the ruling dispensation led by the NDPP and the NPF over uncompromising differences which is held justifiable close to their chests by both the parties.’

“For the greatest cause of the Nagas, nothing should come in a way that is to be seen as a stumbling block. Moreover, if all the political parties contesting election in Nagaland could prioritise the solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political problem as a pre-poll promise to the people once elected to power, then there should be no room for misunderstanding towards pursuing for the same goal,” Nagaland JDU stated.

Nagaland JDU was of the opinion that the confrontations of the two major political parties of Nagaland on the issue had created further confusion in the minds of the people and made the ‘hopes of common men murkier.’

It mentioned that Nagaland JDU had urged and suggested to the ruling dispensation to call for an all-party meet on the ongoing Naga peace process and also organise joint delegation to Delhi to meet the top leaders of both the ruling government and opposition leaders and further stage a Dharna to make a united voice heard. It, however, lamented that its suggestions were ignored or found insignificant.

Nagaland JDU has further appealed to all the political parties especially the three major parties including NDPP, NPF and the BJP to ‘walk the talk not only within the state of Nagaland but also outside.’

“At least for an issue such as the Naga political problem, let us be all united on equal ground and show our commitment enshrined in the manifestos of each political parties,” Nagaland JDU added.
