DIMAPUR — Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, called upon the Nagas to make ‘One Nagaland, Strong Nagaland’ as the people’s agenda and not remain confined on small tribal and clan issues.
He stated this at the valedictory function of the seven-day Wokha Winter Fiesta-Music, Eco-tourism as the chief guest on Wednesday. He was accompanied by the advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, secretary and director of Tourism department along with other government officials.
Speaking at the programme, the minister stated that Doyang does not belong to the Lothas alone but to the Nagas as a whole and that every Naga should be proud of the beautiful place. He requested the landowners not to feel deprived because the portion of land have been claimed by the dam but rather focus on the positive aspects like the abundance of electricity and fishes besides providing a picturesque landscape.
He further stressed on the availability of organic food and vegetable which can cater to the demand of the entire state and not just the district.
Yanthan stressed on the need to put on the best of behaviour and hospitality towards the visitors and not just on monetary gain. He lauded the selfless sacrifices and effort of the Team Metamorphosis in promoting the land and culture to open up a window of opportunity for all stakeholders.
Various events and competitions such as tug-of-war, swimming competition, folk song etc were organised during the day.
Greetings were delivered by Rhanbemo Odyuo, president of Land Owner’s Union; Tsubon Murry, general secretary of Lotha Hoho; and Mhathung Yanthan.
Akhumrenla Ozukhum mesmerised the gathering with a song, while ‘The Infinity Band’ and ‘Struggle Boys Band’ enthralled the gathering.
