Imna Along bats for peace
St. Xavier College, Jalukie concludes annual sports and games day
Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along on Wednesday urged the people to ensure that peace prevails while condemning the incident which occurred at Lamhainamdi village on March 22.
Along was speaking at the closing ceremony of St. Xavier College, Jalukie annual sports and games day at Xaverite Stadium on March 31 as the special guest, a DIPR report informed.
“Anger belongs to everyone but the character of peace does not show one’s weakness but instead shows one’s strength through hard times,” Imna Along added.
Further, it said that Along said that Catholic institutions had ‘100 percent education policy for the upcoming youths in the state’.
He said many students who have passed out from Catholic institutions were leaders in many areas and encouraged the people to be strong and bold while calling upon the students to do their best and work hard. He expressed hope that determined and hardworking students would come out of the college to rebuild the foundation of the people. Imna Along also urged the students to be good citizens and be responsible citizens in maintaining peace and prosperity.
The function was attended by DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, Advisor, SCERT, IPR and Village Guards, ToshiWungtung and Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil as the guests of honour.
Meanwhile, Toshi Wungtung shared that education was the “manifestation of men and women to perfection”. The advisor encouraged the students to be disciplined and refrain from using drugs and alcohol abuse, while calling upon them to be agents of peace and reconciliation in the society.
