Holy Cross to launch jubilee celebrations on April 24

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]o commemorate completion of 50 years in the service of the society and imparting education to children of the state for decades, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School in Dimapur town will be launching yearlong celebrations on April 24. The jubilee event will be launched in the premises of the school in Dimapur at 8 am.
The managing board of the school conducted a meeting with the past pupils on Tuesday. The board and the alumni deliberated on the plans and program that would comprise the golden jubilee celebrations.
The School Management sought suggestions from the past pupils concerning the celebrations “such as how to reach to the past pupils who are outside the state,” the note explained.A student from the first batch of the school dating to 1976, Tsenthungo Ezung, will address the students, on behalf of the alumni, the organizers informed in a note issued to the media on Tuesday. Ezung was also the first School Leader of the school, the note informed.
Chairman of the school, Father Thomas informed the alumni that the institution’s golden jubilee is scheduled to be celebrated next year as per the decision of the managing board. However, the golden jubilee celebrations would be launched this year on April 24 to follow a yearlong celebration.
Senior-most teacher of the school, Cajetan Mahong, while highlighting the programs of the jubilee celebrations, suggested that past pupils can also engage in motivating the students by organizing career guidance programs, or organizing competitions such as for painting, besides “sharing their views to the present students that could change their mindset”.
To reach out to the maximum number of alumni, the board members decided to launch a Facebook Page, ‘Holy Cross Hr Sec School Golden Jubilee celebration’, where past students can join mentioning the year of their batch.
The meeting also decided to revive the Past Pupils’ Association and formed an interim body. The members are Francis Kikon as convener, and Hovoto, Asenla, Ahidur Rehman, Kunal Mazumder, Dr Pauline, Dilip Sharma, Luther and Smita as members. The interim body will be coordinating with alumni and invite them to a ‘general body meeting’ at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by 19 alumni, besides the school’s heads. The school management has invited all the past pupils of the institution to attend the launch of the golden jubilee celebrations on April 24. The event will commence at 8 a.m. in the school’s premises.
