ECI asks both factions of NPF to submit written summary by Mar 20

Noke led NPF parades 22 MLAs before ECI

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today heard the arguments of both the factions of Naga People’s Front (NPF) in New Delhi, but has asked both sides to submit written summary of the argument on or before March 20. Talking to this correspondent from Delhi, Shürhozelie led NPF spokesman Yitachu said that the hearing before the Election Commission was held this evening, wherein Supreme Court advocates representing both sides presented the argument.
“The argument/hearing before the ECI has been completed but the Commission has asked both sides to submit their arguments in written on or before March 20, after which it would consider the matter and give the verdict,” Yitachu said.
“We have submitted a strong case and we are confident of winning as the other side (Noke-led NPF) does not have any case,” Yitachu claimed.
He also revealed that Shürhozelie led NPF working presidents Huska Yeptomi and Apong Pongener along with Achumbemo Kikon and TN Mannen and himself were present during the hearing with Senior Advocate of Supreme Court and Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi with two other lawyers.
On the other hand, sources in the Noke-led NPF while confirming the completion of hearing with ECI, however said that their side was ready to submit the written summary of the argument, however because of the plea from the rival camp, the ECI fixed the last date to March 20.
Noke Wangnao led his side along with two MPs Neiphiu Rio and Khekiho Zhimomi, G. Kaito Aye, Imkong L. Imchen, Kuzholuzo Nienu, CM Chang and convener of NPF Legal Cell Vitsorel Lcho while they have Senior Supreme Court Advocate along with Senior Lawyer from Gauhati High Court S. Dey and SC lawyer Ritu Raj Biswas presenting their case with the ECI.
Meanwhile, sources in the Noke camp also revealed that they had paraded a total of 22 MLAs, two from Manipur Alexander Pao and L. Dikho Mao before the Election Commission yesterday to show the strength and prove their claims over the right of party symbol as original NPF party.
