13 killed in Phek accident

At least 13 persons, including a minor boy were killed while 22 others sustained injuries, some seriously, as the bus in which they were travelling plunged into a deep gorge, near Lozaphuhu village, about two km before reaching Lanye junction in Phek district of Nagaland today.Official sources in Phek revealed that the incident occurred at around 1:30 pm while the NST bus (NL11-2313) returning from a marriage party fell into the gorge killing 11 persons, including the minor, on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries while on the way to Phek hospital. The deceased include six males and seven females.
Another 22 persons sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Phek Civil Hospital for treatment. The ill-fated bus was on its way from Phek to Jessami under Ukhrul district of Manipur, sources said.

Chief Minister condoles
Chief Minister, TR Zeliang has condoled the death of 13 people in a bus accident that took place between Meluri and Jessami today.
He expressed shock and sorrow at the loss of many precious lives and prayed that the Almighty grants solace to the bereaved families. The chief minister also wished a speedy recovery to the 22 persons injured in the mishap.
