Dimapur, June 29 (EMN): Troops of Assam Rifles seized a total of 967 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth INR 41,09,352 being smuggled into Nagaland from Assam on June 27. The seizure was made from a truck moving from Khatkhati to Kohima.
The driver identified as Md Saidul Rehman (25), resident of Bokajan in Karbi Anglong, and co-driver Md Izazu Islam (17), resident of Khatkhati under Karbi Anglong, were apprehended. A defence release stated that both individuals along with recoveries were handed over to Medziphema Police Station on June 28 for further investigation.
It added that the seizure of smuggled liquor in the State has contributed towards control of illegal activities in the areas and also facilitated in fighting alcohol abuse.
