Ao community celebrates Tsungremmung festival with gusto

Mokokchung, Aug. 2 (EMN): The 27 Mokokchung town assembly constituency celebrated Tsungremmung festival at Multi-sports complex on August 2, hosted by the minister of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir, which was attended by people from all walks of life.
Speaking on the occasion, Metsubo urged the ward authority leaders to inculcate humility and accept criticism with positivity in order to take the society forward. He also encouraged them to provide the best service to the people.
The minister also revealed that the festival was hosted to share his blessings and grace he received from Almighty.
Short speeches were also delivered by representative from Aongza ward, Kichutip ward, Salangtem ward, Mongsenbai ward, Kumlong ward and others.
Celebration was marked with a tug-war competition for both men and women and a community feast.
In a similar programme, Ungma Village Council celebrated Tsüngremmung festival at Babu Tzübu Amphitheatre with the speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer as the special guest.
Sharingain Longkumer, while conveying Tsüngremmung greetings, called upon the community to seek blessings not just for now but also for the coming days. He congratulated the Kosasanger Pusu Menden for initiating and bringing changes within the Ao people.
Longkumer has stressed on accountability and transparency in all matters relating to development for overall development of the society. He also called upon the community to embrace changes taking place in the society.
Also speaking on the opposition-less government, he reminded how the different parties have come together to form a stable government.
“Development will not continue if we do not have a stable government, justice will not prevail and there will be no solution without stability. We therefore need to seek for stability”, he said.
He concluded by urging the community to have vision for the uplift of the young people.
Ten clubs from Ungma village have presented culture items on the occasion.
