Manipur Assembly session enters day-8

Imphal, Aug. 2 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday informed that the state government will implement the Manipur conservation of paddy land wetland Act 2014 effectively, to conserve the paddy land and wetland and to restrict the conversion in order to promote growth in the agricultural sector.

He was replying to a question raised by JD (U) MLA Kh Joykishan at the ongoing assembly session in Imphal.

Informing that those conversion or reclamation of the paddy land prior to enacting the Act has been regularised, he said, “So far about 20,000 notices have been issued for its implementation.”

Biren Singh also said that the border fencing work measuring about 5.6 km along the Manipur sector of the India-Myanmar International border has been completed.

Replying to a question by the opposition congress MLA Kangujam Ranjit Singh of the Sugunu assembly constituency on the 8th day of the ongoing assembly, Biren Singh said that the Union ministry of home affairs has informed the state that the bordering fencing works will be taken up for 60.023 km.

Responding to another question he said the government of India and Myanmar government will jointly take up the issue of India and Myanmar border while citing that Manipur shares about 380 km long stretch of international border with Myanmar.
