Nagaland: ANCSU felicitates degree toppers

Kohima, Aug. 2 (EMN): Commemorating its 43rd foundation, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) felicitated the degree toppers during a programme held at Molu Ki conference hall in Kohima on August 2.

Dr. Moangsnagba, Nagaland University’s controller of examination and guest speaker, exhorted the toppers and lauded ANCSU for possessing qualitative and mature leadership. He expressed his happiness in the performance of the students post pandemic.

He exhorted the students not to bask on their laurels but stay focused and keep striving in their pursuit to achieve success in life.

Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Medongoi Rhakho, deputy director of Higher Education and the special guest, stressed on the importance of time management saying, “Winners do what losers do not want to do.”

In addition, he highlighted features of the National Educational Policy (NEP) and asked for feedbacks.

Theja Therie, former president of ANCSU, delivered a speech on behalf of the seniors. He spoke on the history of the union and shared his experiences. He called upon the students to bring about a social change saying, “This is the age where they are neither too young to not comprehend the issues and also not too old to be attached with their professional jobs and works.”

Toito D Chishi, in his presidential address, paid respect to the visionary leaders of ANCSU. He edified on how ANCSU, although formed in 1979, had never felicitated degree toppers but it started only in 2018 to honour and laud the degree toppers. He also stated that the union was happy with the improvement in the performance of the students in the recent NU exam, where the passing percentage was 84.27.

A speech on behalf of the toppers was delivered by Viziesieno Yhoshu from Japfu Christian College, Kigwema, while Kewekhro Mero, from Pfutsero Government College enthralled the participants with a song.

Altogether, 42 toppers including 19 under NU, 9 from Kohima Science College and 14 from Patkai Christian College were felicitated in the presence of ANCSU seniors, degree toppers, parents, representatives from NSF and ENCSU and president and colleagues of ANCSU affiliated units.
