DIMAPUR — The Lobenkokba Memorial Morning Champions Cup 2023 witnessed a captivating turnaround as All Blacks’ star player, Kobou, conjured his magic to orchestrate a remarkable victory over Unity FC.

Unity FC made a blazing start to the match, with Mele breaking the deadlock in the 9th minute after receiving an excellent assist from Asezo. Asezo, the provider, then turned into a goal scorer, doubling the lead in the 15th minute, making it appear that the defending champions were poised for a dominant performance. However, their aspirations were quashed by the brilliance of Kobou, who single-handedly pulled his team level with goals in the 38th and 45th minutes just before the halftime whistle.

The second half saw a complete reversal of fortunes, as All Blacks, led by Kobou’s remarkable performance, mounted a comeback. Kobou completed his hat trick in the 86th minute and also set up Keze for a goal in the 80th minute. Visa added a brace, while Akho contributed another goal, sealing Unity FC’s fate with a convincing 2-7 victory.

In the individual awards, Avor from Vanguard FC Old Boys was honored with the Golden Glove, Asezo from Unity FC claimed the Golden Boot, and Visakholie of All Blacks was recognised as the Player of the Tournament.
