57th sports week of Naga Students’ Union Delhi concludes
DIMAPUR — The 57th sports week of Naga Students’ Union Delhi, that began on March 13 at Police Ground, Kingsway Camp, Delhi, on the theme ‘Beyond boundaries: embracing diversity through sports’ culminated on March 16.
According to a press release, the closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Lorho S Pfoze, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (Outer Manipur); Sapu Battacharyya, director of NEC Energy Pvt. Ltd.; and Hibu Tamang, joint commissioner of police, security, as the guests of honour. Anuj Gupta, president of the Delhi Soccer Association and co-founder of Sudeva Football Academy, as well as Amit Das, founder and CEO of Electric One, were present as special invitees.
During his welcome address, Yaorei Horam, president of NSUD, emphasised NSUD’s role extending beyond sports to support academic excellence and cultural enrichment for the Naga community. He encouraged all to pursue excellence with integrity and perseverance.
Pfoze, in his speech, stressed that while individuals may have their own plans, it is the plan of God that they should diligently seek. Battacharyya, meanwhile, emphasised the significance of unity, underscoring the shared identity of belonging to the Northeast region. He urged everyone to transcend regional boundaries and cultivate a sense of solidarity.
Tamang shared his past experiences, stating that he had observed Naga students to be very organised, energetic, taking things seriously, and showing a lot of interest in organising any kind of event.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Adeo Dozo, the financial secretary of NSUD.
