Student assault case: Organisations laud ‘timely suspension’
DIMAPUR — The Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), Dimapur Watsu Telongjem (DWT), and Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (DAYO) lauded the Dimapur Police for the ‘timely suspension’ of the officers involved in the assault and excesses committed against Moalong Jamir on January 29.
In a note, the organisations appealed to the commissioner of police, Dimapur, for a thorough and unbiased investigation, ensuring that appropriate punishment is given to the perpetrators.
They also appreciated all the student bodies, civil society organisations and organisations that had extended their support in demanding justice.
The three organisations further advocated for the implementation of a standard operating system, the orientation of police officers on special duties, and public sensitisation regarding matters of public threat perception to ensure that such unfortunate incidents are not repeated in the days to come.
