NDPP-BJP alliance secures 9 seats in Mokokchung
NDPP-BJP alliance secured 9 seats out of 10 in Mokokchung district. Lone NPP candidate Nuklutoshi from 22 Arkakong AC managed to win against the sitting NDPP MLA.
Mokokchung district will be sending three new faces to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The newcomers are A Pangjung Jamir from BJP, who secured a landslide victory of 3029 votes against veteran politician Amenba Yaden of NCP. The BJP managed to accumulate 10319 votes, while NCP secured 7290 votes.
The 29 Jangpetkong AC witnessed an entry of two newcomers against veteran leader Dr. Longrineken. In the race NDPP candidate Temjenmenba won by a margin of 2001 votes. The NDPP managed to secure 6238 votes, while NPF secured 4237 votes and LJP (RV) secured 777 votes.
The third newcomer from 25 Mongoya, Imkongmar defeated a veteran Congressmen Supongmeren and NPF candidate Moasangba Jamir by a margin of 1042 votes. NDPP secured 6818 votes, while INC secured 5776 votes and NPF secured 3640 votes.
Imkong L Imchen of BJP won his fifth consecutive term by defeating three opponents. First-timer Major Toshikaba (Rtd) of NPF came close to defeating Imchen. BJP secured 8340 votes, while NPF secured 7930 votes, Independent 2696 votes and JD (U) 138 votes.
Under 23 Impur AC, TN Manen of NDPP defeated Bendangkokba of INC by a margin of 1095 votes, while in 22 Arkakong AC, Nuklutoshi of NPP defeated sitting MLA Imnatiba of NDPP by a margin of 1203 votes.
In 24 Angetyongpang, Tongpang Ozukum retained his seat for the second time by defeating S Maongkaba Ozukum and K Wati. He won by a margin of 2220 votes.
Sharingain Longkumer of NDPP also retained his seat from 26 Aonglenden AC by securing a landslide victory of 4520 votes against veteran politician Toshipokba of INC.
Metsubo Jamir of NDPP also defeated Alem Jongshi of INC in 27 Mokokchung Town AC. He won by a margin of 3911 votes.
BJP Nagaland state president, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer, also retained the 30 Alongtaki AC for the second term. He defeated JD (U) candidate Lanu Longchar with a margin of 3748 votes.
