Tritons CC Mokokchung lifts 26th T20 WCC

Wokha, Jan. 17 (EMN): Tritons CC Mokokchung defeated LCYO by four wickets in the final match of the 26th edition of the T20 Winter Cricket Challenge to win the tournament, which was held at local ground, Wokha on Monday.

Tritons CC won the toss and opted to bat first scoring 126 runs losing all wickets in 19.6 overs. Renjamo Tungoe collected 56 runs in 44 balls, while Rendemo Mozhui 17 runs in 23 balls contributed for LCYO.

Arjun Kumar of Tritons CC in his four overs 18 runs claimed two wickets, while Bidesi Nayak, in his four overs delivery 28 runs claimed three wickets.

Tritons CC Mokokchung, batting in the form of Mrinmoy Dutta 31 runs (not out) in 21 balls, Vikram Rawat 24 runs in 15 balls led the team to victory.

LCYO collected four quick wickets while bowling in their first restricted overs but an expensive run resulted in the loss to Tritons CC.

David Yanthan of LCYO collected two wickets in his 21 runs, four over deliveries and a maiden, but could not stop the valiant batsmen of Tritons CC Mokokchung.

The man of the match was awarded to Mrinmoy Dutta.

Meanwhile, an exhibition benefit match was played between DC Wokha XI and SNK President XI.

Winning the toss, SNK President XI opted to bat first and scored 66 runs all out in 14.1 overs of the restricted 15 overs match. Nrithung 19 runs, Khamongo 11 runs contributed for the SNK president XI.

Echungbemo claimed three wickets 12 runs in three overs and Arhomo secured two wickets 11 runs in three overs for.

The DC Wokha XI quickly took down the SNK President XI in nine overs with a loss of six wickets, where Chonbenthung Ezung collected 22 runs and Mhabemo 12 runs for the team.

Khamongo and Nrithung claimed two wickets each for SNK President XI in their respective two overs.

DC Wokha XI won the match by four wickets and Chonbenthung Ezung was adjudged the man of the match.

The benefit match collected an amount of INR 81, 200 from various cricket lovers and the organisers. It was informed that the contributed money collected would be sent to the Oting victims’ families.

Tritons CC Mokokchung received a cash amount of INR 80,000, sponsored by the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), while a certificate and tree saplings were also handed over to the players.

LCYO, the runner-up of the 26th edition of T20 WCC also received a cash prize along with tree saplings and certificates.

The man of the tournament for the 26th Edition of T20 WCC was adjudged to Arjun Kumar of Tritons CC Mokokchung.

Earlier, a short closing ceremony was conducted prior to the final match with Ricky Ozukum, secretary, NPP Nagaland as the special guest.
