PB Acharya promotes North-east at BFIT programme

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): Promoting the North-east, its rich culture, traditions and the problems faced by the people of the region, Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya has said that it is the responsibility of the mainland people to visit the region and experience the food habits, culture, tradition, living style etc. of the North-east people.
Acharya, who was the chief guest in a programme titled ‘students’ experience in inter-state living’ on the theme “knowing north east – knowing India” at Baba Farid Institute of Technology (BFIT), Dehradun on Oct. 31, lamented that very few people know about the northeast through the region is an integral part of India.

The governor also personally invited the chairman of the BFIT group of institutions, Joginder Singh Arora to visit Nagaland and open a branch of their Institute in Nagaland for the benefit of the students of Nagaland in particular and the North-east in general. He also urged the chairman on student/faculty exchange programme so that they can understand and know the culture and tradition of each other.

During the programme students studying in Dehradun from North-east were given a chance to express their views and also their problems.

The organisers and BFIT officials felicitated the governor and his wife Kavita Acharya with bouquet and mementos during the programme. Acharya also interacted with the office bearers of Naga Students Union Dehradun (NSUDD) and encouraged students to take up their studies seriously and come back to Nagaland after completion of their studies to strengthen the society.

Cultural performances were presented by students from Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura and Uttarakhand which added colour to the programme.
