DIMAPUR— Advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimkhiung, launched the 3rd edition of LaunchPad, a career guidance and employment skills development programme, for the academic year 2023-24 during a programme held at TM Government Higher Secondary School in Kohima on Thursday.
Speaking at the launch event, Keoshu emphasised on the importance of incorporating attractive teaching and learning methods into all schools. He commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved in introducing innovative programmes aimed at improving the education system in Nagaland, stated an update from YouthNet.
As a testament to recognise academic excellence, the LaunchPad Scholarship Award for the academic year 2022 was presented to five outstanding students namely Grace Lerina from GHSS Dimapur, Vetazo Veswuh from GHSS Chozuba in Phek, Latsuba from GHSS Pungro in Kiphire, Naophe from GHSS Tizit in Mon, and Toviho Aye from GHSS Zunheboto.
In addition, the secretary of Youth Resources and Sports, Anthony Ngully, presented the Tetso College LaunchPad Scholarship Award to Watisangla of Mayangnokcha GHSS, Mokokchung, in recognition of her exceptional achievements.
The director of YouthNet, Nuneseno Chase, gave an overview of LaunchPad and shed light on the programme’s goals and objectives, while the director of Youth Resources and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, has highlighted the significance of the programme in empowering students with essential career guidance and building their employability skills.
It mentioned that LaunchPad has been specifically designed for students pursuing their 12th standard in all Government Higher Secondary Schools across Nagaland. Its primary aim was to empower youth by providing them with comprehensive career guidance and fostering their employability skills. The programme is initiated by the department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), in partnership with YouthNet and supported by the department of School Education, government of Nagaland.
