Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): In compliance to the guidelines laid down by the University Grant Commission (UGC), Yemhi Memorial College (YMC) in Dimapur organised anti-ragging orientation programme on October 1 in the college auditorium.

The main objective of the programme was to create awareness and sensitise the students regarding menace of ragging and ways to curb it from happening within the educational institution and in hostels.

An update from the college stated that students were informed on the meaning, effects and lawful action against ragging so as to create a holistic and friendly learning environment for all the students.

The resource person of the programme was Sino Olive Shohe, assistant professor of Economics and convenor of anti-ragging cell.

In another programme, the 1 Nagaland Girls Bn. NCC (SW) of Yemhi Memorial College observed Punnet Sagar Abhiyan by organisisng a cleanliness drive on the banks of Dhansiri River in Dimapur on October 1.

It mentioned that the NCC launched Puneet Sagar Abhiyan on December 1, 2021, with an aim to clean sea shores from plastic and other waste material and also create awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

Meanwhile, NSS unit of the college organised an orientation programme for the NSS volunteers on October 1 at the college auditorium with the assistant professor and NSS programme officer, Paunamheing Perang, as the resource person.

Speaking at the programme, the resource person highlighted on NSS, its benefits for students involve in NSS and the importance of their service to the society.

Around 100 volunteers and 9 teaching faculty attended the programme.
