Yitachu graces Secheku range sports meet

Kohima, Dec. 12: Minister for School Education & SCERT, Yitachu today emphasised on the need to take advantage of sporting events towards building unity and understanding among the divided sections of the Naga society.
Addressing the inaugural session of week-long Secheku Range Sports Association (SRSA) 53rd meet at Losami village ground under Phek district, Yitachu said that occasions like sports meet brings together varied sections of the people thereby creating an opportunity in building better understanding and friendship with each other.
Citing that Naga society is a divided house and it is further getting fragmented, the Minister said our civil societies, apex tribal bodies and Naga nationalists organisations are divided into smaller groups and factions while the present Naga society in general has been longing for unity and peace.
“Our vexed political struggle and activities for economic uplift will be weaker if we continue to divide ourselves into smaller groups or factions,” he expressed. In this he said, that such area and range sports meets should be taken as an advantage to build better understanding and unity amongst the villages and tribes so as to achieve the much desired peace and take the Nagas towards progress and development.Maintaining that Naga society has a huge population of youngsters, he therefore challenged them to work towards achieving the desired goal of peace, unity and better relationship within the Naga family for a brighter future.
Meanwhile, Yitachu also called upon the young enthusiastic sportspersons to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship and also be dedicated to achieve greater heights of professionalism in their respective field. He also encouraged them to give equal importance towards achieving quality education while maintaining that even as they earn name and fame through excellence in sporting events, they would also require education.
Further, the Minister urged the gathering to be active in sporting activities not only for good physically health but also for a sound mental health, which will ultimately result in long healthy life.
Secheku Range Sports Association comprises of 11 villages under Phek district, which include Losami, Mesulumi, Enhulumi, Thetsümi, Sumi, Zelome, Chizami village, Chizami Town, Razieba, Tsüpfüme and Zhavame.
Chaired by SRSA treasurer Keweyie Mekrisuh, the inaugural programme commenced with a prayer by Pastor of Losami Baptist Church, Kesowe Mekrisuh welcome address was delivered by vice president Wezocholo Wezah, presidential address by Vepekhro Doulo. SRSA Games and Sports Secretary Puwezo Tsuhah. Special presentations were made by Young Dancer Group and Erawe-u Mekrisuh.
