Dimapur, Dec. 28 (EMN): Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) celebrated its silver jubilee at Sumi cultural centre in Vihokhu village under Niuland district on December 28 on the theme ‘Preserving ancestral values.’
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi urged the Sumi community to live an exemplary life among other Naga tribes by following God’s word. Stating that Sumis are a warrior tribe, Jacob said they still have that blessing.
Zhimomi added that body and spirit should be in harmony and be balanced in order to receive blessings.
On Niuland being declared as a new district, the minister urged the community to cooperate with the society, churches and government in order to usher in development.
Jacob also unveiled the silver jubilee monolith and also inaugurated the memorial building.
Short speeches were delivered by the president of Western Sumi Hoho, Shikaho Shimo, and former presidents of Western Sumi Kukami Hoho.
The Jubilee blessing was said by the executive secretary of Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu, Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema, while the silver jubilee souvenir was released by WSKH founding president, Dr. P Nihoto Chishi.
