Wokha, Oct. 25 (EMN): Department of Land Resource, Wokha division, today felicitated 24 villages with rubber roller sets at its district project office, Wokha.
Speaking on the occasion, Wezope Kenye, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, has lauded the ‘incredible job’ of rubber farmers in the district saying they have not only made themselves self-reliance but contributed to the ecosystem by making much greener and healthier environment.
While reminding that the government is always ready to assist the farmers, he encouraged the educated unemployed youth to venture in agriculture sector and make themselves self dependence and serve the society for peaceful co-existence.
The Deputy Commissioner also lauded the Department of Land Resource for the tireless effort in providing equipments and assisting the farmers for their economic uplift.
On the occasion, 24 villages were issued rubber rollers. The Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, reminded the farmers to make use of the machinery judiciously and encouraged them to spread message on the benefit of rubber plantation to the rest of the district.
Tepunol Yore, District Project Officer of Land Resources, informed that the district has the highest rubber growers with more than twenty-eight lakhs standing trees registered with the department. He informed that an estimated of more than five to six lakhs rubber trees are grown by some individuals.
Yore assured that the department would continue to cover all the areas in the district and felicitate with the schemes and project. Currently, the department covered 32 villages.
