Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN): Commemorating the World Wildlife Week, Wokha forest division, in collaboration with environmental information system (Envis) of the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, organised an awareness programme at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Doyang, on October 2 on the theme “Save life in wild.”
An update from the department informed that the programme was chaired by a livelihood expert Abeno, while DFO of Wokha Suman WM Sivachar, in his keynote address, has emphasised on the importance of preserving wildlife habitat. He stated that human urbanisation and activities are the key reasons affecting the habitat of wildlife.
It stated that short speeches were delivered by Envis programme officer Limitsa S Sangtam and the principal of KVK Doyang Tanmay Sarkar.
Limitsa has highlighted the activities and functions of Envis and Nagaland Pollution Control Board. He also encouraged the gathering to protect, conserve and preserve wildlife.
Presentation on wildlife of Nagaland was made by Lansothung Lotha, range forest officer of Baghty. During his presentation, he encouraged to use natural resources in a sustainable manner saying, “We are only burrowing which belongs to the future generation.”
A short documentary on conservation of wildlife was also screened during the programme. It added that resource materials and knowledge products like caps, diaries, pamphlets and newsletters were distributed to the students and teachers.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Lesemew, office assistant from Wokha Forest Division. It stated that officials from North East Electric Power Corporation Limited (Neepco), Doyang, also attended the programme.
