Vungoju FC are winners of Lotha Football Championship

Wokha, Feb. 7 (EMN): The 10th Lotha Football Championship organised by Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) concluded at Wokha local ground on Friday, Feb. 7 with Chonrhonthung Ezung, executive engineer (electrical) Wokha as the special guest.
Vungoju FC emerged champions after thrashing A1 Tsungiki FC 5-1 in the final match.
Dominating the match from the start, Vungoju FC through its striker Hatsabemo scored in the 17th minute while Yiben added two more goals in the 28th and 34th minute of the first half respectively. The lone goal for A1 Tsungiki FC was scored by Sinlo through a penalty in the 39th minute.
Hatsabemo of Vungoju FC scored two important goals in the 58th and 65th minute of the second half, to complete his hat-trick.
A short closing ceremony programme was conducted where Chonrhonthung Ezung spoke on true sportsman spirit while encouraging the youths to pick up skills in athletic activities.
Champions Vungoju FC took home a running trophy, medal, certificates and a cash prize of INR 1 lakh, while the runners-up received a running trophy, medal, certificates and cash prize of INR60,000.
Earlier in the day, the third place was claimed by Friends Club Wokha Village after beating Niro Range Sports Association.

Best defender: Zuben Kithan (Friends Club Wokha Village)
Best midfielder: Rashamo Murry (Friends Club Wokha Village)
Golden Glove: Meribemo (Vungoju FC)
Player of the tournament: Mhabemo (Vungoju FC)
Highest scorer: Hatsabemo and Sulan from Vungoju FC and Friends Club Wokha Village with 19 goals each.
