DIMAPUR — To ensure all the students have equal access to education regardless of their socio-economic background, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has set a uniform fee structure for strict adherence within its jurisdiction.
The uniform fee structure was initiated following receipt of several complaints from the parents regarding exorbitant tuition fees charged by some teachers. It was reported that some teachers were charging INR 5000 per student for home tuition, stated an update from USSC.
It stated that the uniform rate of tuition fees within its jurisdiction would come into force with immediate effect for the academic year 2024-25.
According to USSC, the monthly normal tuition fee for classes A to 5 will be INR 600 per student, while for classes 6 to 9 will be INR 700 per student and for classes 10 and above will be INR 800 per student.
The monthly home tuition fee for classes A to 5 will be INR 1500 per student, while for classes 6 to 9 will be INR 2000 per student and for classes 10 and above will be INR 3000 per student.
USSC has directed the teachers to accommodate only 6 students at a maximum per batch and to take 6 hours of tuition a week, while the maximum intake of students for home tuition should be not more than 3 per batch.
Meanwhile having learned that most of the hostels are functioning without proper registration, USSC has urged all the proprietors to register and fulfill the department-set rules and guidelines by the next academic year. USSC also directed the proprietors to consider the mess fees for the holiday period and also provide proper facilities and infrastructure with a mandatory hostel warden.
