Urban phase campaign of VBSY kicks off in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The urban phase of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) for Nagaland kicked off in Dimapur on Friday, which was officially launched by the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, at the Naga Shopping Arcade.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chang stated that the main objective of the campaign was to create better public awareness on the central government welfare schemes and help the people avail their benefits at the villages to make 100 percent saturation of the schemes. He informed that around 17 targeted schemes of the central government are being provided for the urban populace through different departments.

The DC reminded that majority of the public are not aware of such schemes despites having the right to avail them. He said the government is targeting to reach the unreached through the VBSY campaign so that all eligible beneficiaries at the grassroots get maximum benefits of it.

Dr. Chang informed that more than one lakh people have been identified to provide various central schemes, while around 20,000 to 30,000 people have been covered so far in Dimapur district. He requested all the public leaders to collaborate with the concerned departments and create awareness on the various government schemes in order to let the beneficiaries be aware of their rights and avail the schemes provided to them.

Dr. Chang also administered the Sankalp Pledge to the gathering.

Delivering the welcome address, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) administrator, W Manpai Phom, informed that the VBSY schemes for urban area would now span across Nagaland beginning from Dimapur.

He stated the programme primarily aims to create awareness about the centrally sponsored schemes being implemented across towns and rural areas. He mentioned that Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra campaign is planned to raise awareness through outreach activities to achieve saturation of central government welfare schemes both in rural as well as urban areas of the country, which included schemes such as PMSVANidh, PMAY  and SBM .

Phom informed that agencies from various departments would conduct on-spot registration for PMSVANidhi, health camp (screening of TB and anemia), PM Ujjwala Yojana new enrolment and biometric authentication.

He further informed that the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) van of the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra campaign would cover all the 39 urban local bodies across Nagaland.
