DIMAPUR — Elaborating that many development projects are on the pipeline, advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, has called upon the residents of Chümoukedima, Niuland and Dimapur to foster unity in order to usher in development.
Speaking at the inauguration of Bailey bridge over Chathe river in Khughovi village on Tuesday, Zhaleo said “unity brings development whereas ‘ism’ divides and destroy the society.” Zhaleo has acknowledged the leaders of Khughovi villagers, department officials and staff for constructing the bridge in a record time of about four months.
Zhaleo suggested that visible signage should be installed to bar heavy vehicles and also avoid long convoy on the 150 m bridge, stated an update issued by the media secretary of 5-NDPP Ghaspani-II AC, Thejangukho Yalietsu.
Replying to a request from H Khekiye Yeptho, president of Kuhuboto Ghakhu Public Organisation, Zhaleo disclosed that he was aware on the need to upgrade SDO Kuhuboto to ADC level and added that the matter is under process. He also remarked that the people should submit justified representation to the concerned authority in order to upgrade Kuhuboto adhoc town committee into a full-fledged town council.
Giving a brief account of the bridge, Z Inahoto Sema, executive engineer of PWD (R&B), Dimapur, stated that the bridge was constructed through additional funds initiated by Zhaleo Rio.
Others who spoke during the function included Hojei Swu from Khughovi village and Khekiye Yeptho, president of KGPO, and other area leaders. Various speakers have thanked the advisor for taking personal interest towards the development pf the otherwise neglected area.
“The inaugural of this Bailey bridge is historic not only for Khughovi village but for all others in Kuhuboto sub-division and Niuland district because it has provided direct connection with Dimapur,” stated one leader. Other speakers have lauded the advisor for undertaking various projects in the area including construction of road under PMGSY in Kuhuboto sub-division.
