Various organisations condemn

Various organisations including Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats (AKMWP), ANTA Tuensang unit and Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) have strongly condemned the act of vandalism by threatening one of its office at gun point on June 17 evening.

The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats (AKMWP) has strongly condemned the act of vandalism perpetrated by unknown miscreants at the office of Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) in Kohima on June 17 evening by threatening one of its official at gun point. While describing the act of vandalising the office as serious crime, the association stated that it deserved condemnation by all right-thinking citizens.

Taking serious note of the incident, AKMWP has reiterated its support to the call for “One tax, one government.” AKMWP further demanded thorough probe into the incident and to book the culprits to book at the earliest by awarding befitting punishment as per law of the land.

In another statement, the Tuensang unit of ANTA has strongly condemned the June 17 incident and appealed to the law enforcing and security personnel to take strong action against the culprits. It has affirmed to stand by the ANTA HQ resolution and extend fullest support in their future endeavours.

The unit has also affirmed to stand by the resolution on ‘One government, one tax,’ which was adopted during the presidential meeting in Zunheboto on March 24, 2022. The association has reaffirmed this decision during its emergency meeting held on June 20.

Meanwhile, the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has condemned that act of vandalising at the office of ANTA in Kohima by anti-social element at gun point.

It stated that AYO would no longer remain a mute spectator to any individual or group that disturbs or intent to harbour anti-social elements in the society.

“The Naga political aspiration and struggle is dear to every Naga. But, it is evident that on the pretext of Naga nationalism, the majority of them (factional groups) have become national liabilities and merely reduced to the category of extortionists and tax collectors with no objectives or principles in contrast to the foundation laid by our past leaders in the national movement,” AYO stated.

It further stated that AYO, under no circumstances, would allow such elements to threaten and sabotage the well-being of the society and its citizens. It urged the law enforcing agencies to render all efforts and means to apprehend the culprits and punish them accordingly.
