UCTE discuss about constructive education

Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): Ura College of Teacher Education (UCTE), Kohima, conducted a talk on “Constructivism as an approach to constructive education” on April 25. The programme was organised by Nagaland Education Association (NEA) with its president Dr. Zavise Rume, as the resource person.
The programme was divided into three sessions. The first session was held on the topic “Conceptual background of constructivism as an approach to education,” while the second session was held on “Education policies, implications and practical approach to constructivism” and the third session was an interactive session.
The programme was chaired by Marla, Assistant Professor UCTE. It was attended by Principal, teaching faculty, B.Ed and M.Ed trainees.
Constructivism talks that a child has the ability to construct his own knowledge where teacher acts as a facilitator providing suitable environment for the child was discussed. The approach believes that children are the original constructor of knowledge.
Constructivist strongly believes in the autonomy of the child. It is child-centred-approach. Both scholastic and co-scholastic is focused and infused for the development of all round of the child.
The resource person also digs and highlighted educational policies on NPE 1986, NCF 2000, NCF 2005 and NPE 2016 which has much mention on constructivism approach.
