Tucked among hills, Zubza celebrates ‘village day’

A small settlement under Kohima district, Sechü Zubza, observed its 31st “village day” with a a public celebration on December 29 at the village’s council hall.
The speaker for the day’s function was Vilavolhou Meyase, a senior leader of the village. In his address, Meyase called for unity among the communities and people to make Sechü Zubza ‘a place convenient for every visitor who comes in to settle.’ Sechü Zubza being the sub-divisional headquarters of the western Angami regions, he said, and also with the national highway running through it, the elderly village leader urged the denizens of the area to maintain peace and harmony to set an example for others to follow.
Meyase also lauded the pioneers of the village for thri work, while also urging the upcoming generation to carry the dreams and vision of the pioneers forward. Stressing on the importance of sanitation and climate change, he urged the villagers to consistently keep the village neat and clean.
Likewise, he lauded the womenfolk of the village, particularly the mothers, for ‘being the backbone behind the many success the village has achieved during the past years.’
Regarding Sechü Zubza as an ideal place to live in, ‘blessed with favorable climate as well as with the village growing up to be an educational centre,’ the village leader challenged the villagers to be ‘ready to face the changes that are coming their way.’
On the day, a new team of executive members for Sechü Zubza Teisozha was also instated. The new team is led by Seyiekielie Nagi as the chairman.
