Students have been told to focus on their careers instead of ‘electronic gadgets’ if they wish to become successful people in the future.
Deputy Commissioner of Kohima Rovilato Mor cautioned the students about electronic gadgets becoming ‘multipurpose that can benefit the student for academic purposes, but also destroy lives and purposes if one doesn’t know how to utilize them.’
Mor was addressing a community event at Chetheba town in Phek district on December 30. He said that the Chokri areas had ‘lots of talent, potentiality and dedication.’
Speaking about education, the bureaucrat said that “education involves intellectuality but intellectuality is not sufficient.” It requires good development of habits, behavior and characters in order for an individual to become a ‘true educator,’ he said and urged students not to forget that “you need to live by education; life should improve year after year with the process of education.” He advised the community to ‘develop realistic ambitions and not wishful dreams.’
Mor also stressed on the importance of culture which he said plays an important role in a student’s life. Cultural identity, values and customs shouldn’t be forgotten but be cultivated; the habits based on cultural values to become respectable men and women in the course of acquiring knowledge should be cultivate, he said.
He encouraged the students to work hard ‘in the most desirable manner to prove that they belong to Chokri area.’ “If you belong to such an area, I would challenge each and every student to have a clear determination and put the best effort to prove that you hailed from Chokri area,” he said.
