SELF Help Groups under the Transformative Livelihood Intervention (TLI) Project Divisional Societies reflected a 100% recovery of revolving fund extended as loan in the first tround to SHGs through the Societies to take up income generating activities.
The progress review of 21 TLI Divisional Societies representing 1091 SHGs from all over the State were reviewed at the meeting called by the Directorate of Women Development. The meeting was chaired by its director Neilavoii Keditsu at the Directorate Conference Hall.
Keditsu explained how the SHGs under the Project have been federated at different levels to build their capacities and empower them. She also said registering themselves under the Societies Registration Act permits them easier access to funds and other facilities from schemes and programmes of various ministries, departments and funding agencies.
Some Societies who have availed of such schemes have re-loaned the recovered amount to SHGs under them, and are already in the third round of this exercise. Some SHGs with the loan availed have begun producing wild apple candies, fruit juice, pickling, floriculture including setting up of a ‘rural mart’, procured land for orchard field and purchased auto-rickshaw earning Rs 4,500 per month.
The TLI Project is the flagship programme of the department which is an intrinsic part of its vision document for human resource development.
