Three lawbreakers line up for police music

Police have arrested three persons including a young criminal police said was a habitual offender, for various counts of offence on Tuesday. One is in custody for stealing a vehicle while two persons from Manipur have been charged with smuggling the banned cough syrup Phensedhl. On May 16, the owner of a vehicle, a Maruti (NL-01T-7959), lodged a complaint with north police station stating that his vehicle was stolen from his residence at Midland in Kohima town.
Police began searching for the missing vehicle and the report was also widely spread through the recently launched Nagaland Police SMS Based Vehicle Monitoring System.
After two days of search, the stolen vehicle was recovered on May 19 at around 1:30 PM from the Don Bosco School areas. In this connection, one habitual offender namely Yitu, 21 years, of Meluri in Phek district was arrested for stealing the said vehicle. The vehicle has been handed over to the rightful owner.
In another incident, also on May 19, a combined team of 13th NAP (IR) personnel and Khuzama police station personnel were conducting checking in Kigwema and Mima village located along national highway-2 when they stopped a local taxi, a Maruti Alto (NL-01T-7972). On searching the vehicle, the enforcement personnel found 2, 000 bottles of the banned cough syrup Phensedhl from the occupants, police informed.
Halunu Rekhanamai, 32 years, of Thingba Khullen village in Senapati of Manipur, and another person called Veihru Yumai of Liyai (Zhaimai) village also under Senapati in Manipur have been arrested in this connection.
Also on Tuesday, Dimapur police authorities have found the body of an unidentified non-local male was found lying at Rail Bazar area, in Dimapur town. The police estimate the age of the deceased to be around 50 years of age.
“The unidentified person was found in an unconscious state. He was later shifted to Civil Hospital Dimapur for medical treatment. However, he expired on Tuesday at around 3:30 PM while undergoing treatment at civil hospital, the police informed in a press release issued to the media on May 19.
After observing all the legal formalities, the dead body was shifted to the mortuary of the district hospital for post mortem examination and identification.
“The deceased was wearing black long-pant, blue t-shirt with white strips and bare footed. If such person with the given description is found missing may kindly contact SBN police station officer-in-charge,” the police stated.
