Third road accident in a week kills woman, injures 2 in Kohima

In the third road accident of the week, a woman was killed while two her friends, including a woman, were injured as dipper truck rammed into their stationary vehicle last night at around 8:00 pm near High School junction Kohima.
Traffic police sources said the dipper truck (NL07-0519) going at a high speed towards High School from the town rammed into a stationary Alto (NL07-9360) which had three occupants.
The victim identified as Shoheli Shohe, daughter of Khuvishe Shohe of Pughoboto, with injuries on the face, chest and fractured body parts was rushed to Oking Hospital along with two of her friends identified as Khrielenonuo (female) and Meren (male).
Shoheli reportedly succumbed to her injuries in the hospital while the other two are said to be out of danger.
Sources said the owner of the Maruti Alto, Nishenti Rengma, had parked the vehicle on the road side and gone to a nearby ATM when the accident occurred.
The driver of the truck identified as Bishnunath Mandal was arrested last night itself and forwarded to court today. A case has been registered and investigation is in progress, Traffic Police sources said.
On Wednesday, one person was killed while two others sustained severe head injuries at Secretariat Road while on Sunday a pedestrian was crushed to death by a truck at Box Cutting connecting Cemetery with Naga Hospital Road.
