Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): Tangha village and its adjoining Amosen village under Yongnyah block in Longleng district have achieved the distinction of 100% Covid-19 vaccinated village on July 14.
The first vaccination drive in the village started on April 16, where all beneficiaries were vaccinated except some members due to some health issues. However, those who were missed out were vaccinated in the following sessions conducted in the health unit, an update from the chief medical officer’s (CMO) office stated.
It stated that both villages have vaccinated all eligible populations with 100% of 2nd doses for 45 years and above and 100% of 1st doses for 18 years and above. It added that the village task force comprising the village council, village guards, student organisations and church leaders joined hands and came forward with a determination to vaccinate all its eligible citizens with the Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner and DTF chairman of Longleng, M Shayung Phom, has congratulated Tangha village for being the first village in Longleng district to be declared a 100% vaccinated village. He also congratulated community health officer, Lorenbeni Humtsoe, and her entire team, Tangha village council, village guards and the students’ organisation for their help and support throughout the vaccination period.
He also expressed gratitude to Dr. Imnameren Phom, DPO (RCH/UIP), and the vaccination team for their relentless sacrifice in making the dream of achieving 100% vaccination a reality. He further appealed and encouraged all the villages in Longleng to come forward and get vaccinated stating that vaccine is the only weapon against the pandemic at this juncture.
