Suspected poachers held in Karbi Anglong

Dimapur, June 29: Four persons suspected to be poachers were arrested while travelling in a Maruti Alto car by Dillai police on June 28. They were caught during regular interstate frisking at the police check post in east Karbi Anglong, Assam, it was informed.

The officer in charge (OC) of Dillai police station told Eastern Mirror that upon checking the vehicle, police found .22 calibre rifle with 80 live ammunition, 20 rounds of ammunition of 12 bore rifle, crackers, torch lights and three mobile handsets.

The OC also informed that the arrested persons were coming from Dimapur and were travelling to Chotu Lengri in Kramsa village for hunting and fishing.

The arrested persons were identified as Binod Basumatary (27), Akokpa (40), Hacheto Zhimo (46) and Akhoto Tetseo (27). The four are currently in police remand at Dillai police station.
