Dimapur, June 24 (EMN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) and the Kuki Students’ Union Nagaland (KSON) along with the civil society organisations (CSO) of Jalukie held a peaceful protest rally for a second consecutive day on June 24 at Jalukie town.
The peaceful protest rally was organised in reiteration to its four-point charter of demand. The two student organisations along with other civil society organisations had organised a similar protest rally at Peren town on June 23.
The organisations had demanded establishment of a 100-bedded Covid-19 hospital in Peren district with modern facilities, to immediately provide adequate tools and machineries, to set up makeshift ICU and BSL-2 lab in the district hospital, to post adequate staff to man the hospital and to initiate prompt action against the erring officials with regard to June 3 incident.
ZSUN’s statement affirmed that the union would carry out its action plan in due course if the state government fails to immediately respond to its demand.
“The attitude of the state government has enraged the public and cannot be compromised anymore,” the union stated.
It informed that around 500 people attended the rally wherein leaders from various organisation spoke at the programme. Meanwhile, the union has expressed gratitude to the civil society organisations for their support.
