DIMAPUR — The three-day annual sports and games meet of St. Andrew School, Jotsoma, on the theme ‘Winners are not the people who never fail, but people who never quit’, kicked off on Monday.
The sports meet was inaugurated by Dr. Seyiekhrietuo John, SPO and state nodal officer of National Ayush Mission as the chief guest. John, in his address, lauded the children for their active participation in sports and games, an update stated.
He also said the occasion reminded him of his childhood days in Don Bosco School, Kohima, when he used to enjoy sports and games events as they gave him the “opportunity to laugh and enjoy.”
Earlier, the principal of the school Rev. Fr. Solomon Vizo, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to God for the good weather and welcomed everyone to the event.
The chief guest and the school principal jointly hoisted the school flag.
Other highlights of the opening ceremony included lighting of the torch, inspection of parade contingents, oath taking and drill display. Rev. Sr. Teresa, the headmistress of the school, proposed vote of thanks.
