The Transformation Resource Centre of Dimapur and Blessing Foundation for Special People organized a “bamboo craft training for specially-abled people” at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre in Dimapur.
The training was sponsored by the District Urban Development Agency under a skill training scheme which was held from May 20 to June 5.
The Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency provided the resource persons and other technical assistance for the same. 15 “specially-abled persons” were trained to make 20 different bamboo products including flower vases and stands, trays, soap cases, toys, stationery items, picture frames, jewellery boxes and other decorative items.
The closing ceremony to the training programme was held on June 5 in the Conference Hall of the Bamboo Development Center. The programme was attended by trainees, trainers, resource persons and officers from District Urban Development Department of Dimapur and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency. A press release issued by the Agency informed of the day’s proceedings.
The trainees along with their trainer Khrolo N Chakhesang also shared their experiences gained during the training and encouraged the government to further help them through such programmes.
