Specialists educate farmers about value-addition

Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): A group of experts specialised in vegetable crop production conducted a training programme for farmers at Hekheshe village on March 27.
The experts from All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP) on vegetable crops Nagaland centre, trained the farmers about value addition of horticultural crops at ‘adopted’ village Hekheshe. A press release informing about the training was received here on Thursday.
The press release stated that the objective of the training was to make the farmers aware about the importance and demand of value-added products of horticultural crops in the market. The training was imparted to teach the farmers about how to make profit out of the surplus of their harvest. Also it aimed at teaching them the importance of labelling and packaging of value added products that have become imperative to catch the market and promote their own products, the release informed.
The farmers expressed their gratitude to AICRP-vegetable crops for the initiative taken by them and for imparting awareness among the villagers.
The updates stated that 71 farmers from Hekheshe village attended the event.
