Dimapur, Dec. 30: Socialist Party (India) has sought clarification from Election Commission of India before filing nomination papers in respect of Naharbari East Dimapur whether Ward Nos. 8, 9, 10, and 11 were deemed for selection or voting.

Stating that Naharbari Village Council was dissolved and subsequently declared to be under town council, Socialist Party (India) national vice president Akhei Achumi questioned how Naharbari village council had selected candidates for Ward Nos. 8, 9, 10, and 11. Akhei also alleged that the village council had resolved not to allow any political party or interested candidate to contest against the above mentioned wards.

Stating that selection of candidates on their own interest was ‘totally illegal and violation of free and fair elections,’ Akhei said Socialist Party (India) will never accept such resolution made by community and Naharbari village council.

In light of the above stated circumstances, Akhei urged the Election Commission of India to verify and made clarification before filing of nomination papers.
