Mokokchung, May 2 (EMN): The chief minister of Nagaland, Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu on Tuesday asserted that Nagas have been suffering for too long to see that the Naga political problem solved honourably and amicably, and urged the people not to pass on this problem to the future generation.

Dr Liezietsu was chief guest at the premier festival of the Ao Nagas – Moatsu Mong organized by the Ao Senden at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. He said to solve the Naga political problem and to let peace come to our land, we have to contribute our best to see that our political problem is solved for once and for all.
He also asked the people that “if we consider ourselves as civilized today we should closely examine ourselves, whether the Nagas can stand on our own feet, whether we can survive as a people.”
In this connection, Dr Liezietsu asserted quarrelling, fighting for ambition and supremacy, for selfishness among the Naga family members could never help that family to move forward.
“If there are full of quarrelling, fighting, among the members of the same family, that family can never compete; can never face their equals in every field,” the chief minster asserted and opined that “if this is true that we consider ourselves as civilized today, let us do our best, try our best to make ourselves stand in the position of a civilized person, to make our state a civilized state.”
Dr Liezietsu also reminded the Ao people that the Nagas family was expecting the Aos to play the role of the big brother among the Naga communities.
“When you play the role of the big brother, I am sure other communities are looking up to you and will follow your good example,” the chief minister stated.
In this connection, Dr Dr Liezietsu said it is incumbent on the part of the advanced tribes like Aos even including Angamis to spread the message of love through Jesus Christ and prayed that Ao community will continue to be the torchbearers in spreading the message of Christ and Naga brotherhood.
Earlier short speeches were delivered by Imkong L Imchen, minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Temjen Toy (IAS), additional chief secretary & finance commissioner, GK Zhimomi executive member CNTC, Mongko vice president ENPO and Moachila president Watsu Mungdang. Welcome speech was offered by Ao Senden president C Angang Jamir and invocation was pronounced by Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger, Executive Secretary ABAM.
Special folk dances and folksongs were presented by Psalmodic Ensemble, Kosasanger Salokum Roko Ungma, Ongpangkong Mungdang, Northern Angami Public Organisation, Asetkong Mungdang, Southern Angami Public Organisation, Jangpetkong Senso Mungdang and Western Angami Public Organisation. The programme was followed by tug-of-war.

‘Reactivate Naga unity’
“It will be a challenge for you and as you have taken a challenge to host the APO, the Angami community today we will be looking forward that the Ao Senden will take another initiative so that other communities or other tribes of Nagas will come together,” was the challenged given by Dr Vilhusa Seleyi, president of Angami Public Organization to the Ao tribe during the Moatsu Mong at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Dr Vilhusa Seleyi was the guest of honour at that event. The APO president also felt that Nagas today are coming to terms with the need to come out from our selfish ‘individualist tribalistic cocoon of exclusivism and destruction.’
He said Naga society can be reactivated if the unity can be strengthened through this kind of cultural activities and thereby called upon the Ao Senden to bring Nagas together and lead forward to develop a most dignified and productive nation ,adding, “Aos are gifted and blessed community with so many leaders. Ao community is the producing community for intellectuals and leaders.”
Asserted the APO strongly believes Naga culture and its festivals are rich, Dr Seleyi said that that we are making history for posterity to embrace and honour upon in our world of shimmering difference, geographically, topographically language, standard etc, owing to the fact of cultural affinity and oneness as Angami and Aos.
Lauding the Ao Senden initiative and reacting to this with all sincerity and honest commitment, the APO president make it cleared that Ao and Angami are coming together not to manipulate or dominate others but to lead our people, our nation into a more promising future given the chance to all other Naga community, and called to build a dignified nation while celebrating Moatsu.
He further said along with the celebrations of Moatsu festival let us also believe that not only the crops in the fields will be more productive but our people, the whole Naga population and particularly the Ao Senden leadership will be more productive from today onward.
