Reiterating its commitment to social responsibility, tier-marketing products company Amway Opportunity Foundation, on Monday presented an aid of Rs. Rs 1.5 Lakhs to Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home. The cheque was handed over to chairman of the institution Neibanuo Angami by Janbeni Awomi, Nagaland State Training Officer of Amway India Limited, in Kohima. The fund will be utilized as annual educational sponsorship for welfare of underprivileged children of Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home.
Amway Opportunity Foundation has been undertaking annual ‘educational sponsorships’ and healthcare expenses of Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home since 2009.
In 2013, Amway Opportunity Foundation also set up a computer centre called the “AOF- KODH Vocational Centre in Information Technology” for children from the Kohima orphanage.
In a message given to the institution during the time the contribution was made, Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President of Amway India and a volunteer of Amway Opportunity Foundation said, “We are delighted to make a contribution for the children of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home that will empower them in future”.
“I urge the authority to utilize the amount towards quality education and healthcare of the children that would benefit them in the long run and make them self-reliant. Amway Opportunity Foundation has been working towards the empowerment of differently-abled children for over a decade. We would continue such welfare activities in future. We feel privileged to be associated with and help them realize their dream,” he said.
Amway’s association with Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home started 5 years ago in 2008. “Over the years we have put efforts to the holistic development of the children by adopting initiatives in health and education. We have set up a computer centre at Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home this year. I hope this centre will become a vocational centre in information technology for empowerment of lesser privileged students in Nagaland. Amway Opportunity Foundation has been working towards the empowerment of children for over a decade,” the message stated.
Amway said it already helped set up 16 computer centers across India for visually-challenged students. The AOF computer centre for Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home would reinforce Amway’s commitment to the development of the children of the orphanage”, Diptarag Bhattacharjee stated.
“We believe that business cannot succeed in a society that fails. Inclusive growth and sustainable development can only be possible if different sectors in the society work together. Our project sunrise is a step towards that end,” the business organization stated.
