Sakhabama village wins best Kohima DPDB performing village award
Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): The Village Adoption Committee (VAC) of Kohima district planning and development board (DPDB) has declared Sakhabama village under 15th Southern Angami-II assembly constituency as the best performing village for the year 2021-2022.
This was announced during the monthly meeting of the Kohima DPDB held in the DPDB conference hall in Kohima on April 13, a DIPR report stated. It informed that the second best performing village was awarded to Mezoma village under the 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency.
The advisor of Technical Education and Election, who is also the chairman of Kohima DPDB, Medo Yhokha, gave away the prize to the first winner, while the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, gave away the prize to the second winner.
The DPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of Medo Yhokha in the presence of Dr. Neikiesalie Kire and the DPDB vice chairman, Gregory Thejawelie.
It stated that the house reviewed the last meeting minutes and took up the agenda on the upgrade of SECHEM School at Nerhema village to class 7 and 8, upgrade of GMS Merema to that of high school and introduction of Science stream at Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire Higher Secondary School at Seikhazou. Report stated that the house has recommended the matters to the government for further necessary action.
On the agenda of ‘Rechristening of Government Higher Secondary School Kigwema,’ Medo Yhokha shared the backdrop of the school and the genuine desired of the four villages namely Kigwema, Mima, Pfuchama and Phesama under southern area, which was subsequently recommended to the government.
On the proposal for establishment of Urban development office for Kohima district moved by MLA Khriehu Liezietsu, Dr. Kire has expressed the need to have a separate office for Kohima district to take up the district affairs as being in the capital. It stated that the board has decided to recommend the matter to the government for further necessary action.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kire reiterated the necessity to introduce the village adoption programme to other districts. He also requested the members to share it to fellow friends as he felt that the programme would benefit the deserving section of the people at the grassroots in other districts.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Kohima has informed all the members to attend the first DPDB meeting of Tseminyu on April 14 at 12 noon.
Pointing out the need of district officers to participate in the area of capital building particularly more on the cleanliness and sanitation as emphasised by the Chief Minister during last year’s DPDB Day out, the DC said that there are still many areas which needed to be attended to though some initiatives have been undertaken involving all government departments, stakeholders and agencies. He has further sought cooperation from all departments and requested them to ensure their participation in their respective areas towards building up the capital.
Medo Yhokha, in his concluding remarks, congratulated both the winning teams and the other teams for contributions towards the uplift and development of their respective adopted villages.
Medo also acknowledged all the members for their support in all round development of the district. He also thanked the DC and vice chairman of DPDB for being the driving force in all the works undertaken by the board. Mentioning that the year 2021 has been a challenging year on account of the pandemic, Medo appreciated all the concerned officers for the job done well. He further hoped that the DPDB would be able to take up the policies and programmes of the government to the grassroots level in the coming years.
