Rural Development officials visit SAGY villagers

A number of government officials led by secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Kelei Zeliang, were in two Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) villages of Nagaland, Ikishe village and Seluophe village, under Dimapur district.
The villages were ‘adopted’ by respective Members of Parliament of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The visit of the officials was to “directly understand the need of the people in programme implementation,” a note which the Rural Development department issued on Friday said.
Other officials who formed part of the team were the project director of District Rural Development Agency, Block Development Officer of Chumukedima, and state nodal officers for SAGY and PMRDFs.
Kelei Zeliang strongly affirmed that his department had given a commitment to help adopted villages to become ‘model villages by taking up all the approved projects,’ to the best of his capacity which falls in the category of rural development schemes and programmes.
Also, during interactions, Alemla Chishi congratulated the villagers for having done so much in just a year. The two village authorities an intimate interactive session with the Secretary personally on the matter concerning to the development of the villages. In the meantime, the team surveyed all the worksites where intervention is urgently required to boost the life of village settlers. The team had a brief sightseeing of the works undertaken by respective members of parliament in the villages.
The team appreciated MP Neiphiu Rio for his proactive initiatives in Seluophe village ‘where he has done so much starting from the scratch since one year back for betterment of people’s lives,’ the updates stated.
The secretary has urged upon other departments also to step forward at the earliest to take up their respective projects which were approved in the state-level empowered committee meeting presided over by the chief secretary to the government of Nagaland in the presence of all heads of departments.
‘As SAGY is a time bound programme under the direct supervision of Prime Minister’s Office, every stakeholder has to initiate their own share of tasks. A meeting was held with district level line departments for convergence matters after the visit,’ the note stated.
