DIMAPUR — The felicitation programme for the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) councillors from Mokokchung Municipal Council, Tuli Town Council, Changtongya Town Council, and Mangkolemba Town Council was held on July 3 at Hotel Japfü in Kohima

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, delivering the keynote address on the occasion, highlighted the history of urban local bodies (ULBs) from early 2001 to the passing of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, which paved the way for the possibility of holding the ULB election in 2024.

According to a press release from the media cell of the NDPP Mokokchung region, he encouraged the councillors to embrace their responsibilities, noting that it comes with the privilege.

NDPP Secretary General Abu Metha emphasised to party workers the importance of upholding the party constitution, where the grassroots is the high command. He explained that the NDPP is a regional party in its content but national in its outlook, with international aspirations.

The function was also attended by Minister of Tourism and Higher Education Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Rural Development Metsubo Jamir, NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, advisors, chairpersons of various public undertaking departments, and a host of party workers from Mokokchung.
