EASTERN 15319068_1831826307098418_4487483756653260317_nMIRROR: For all those new to your group and music, can you share our readers about your music.
The Finalist: The finalist is a Hindi band with three members Kenneth Mozhui, Mendan Konyak and Baham C Noklang. We first met in a reality show called Naga Hindi Voice Season 2. Coming from the same interest we got inspired from each other and decided to come together as a band. And fully inspired by Bollywood songs, we as a band will keep on releasing Hindi songs (hoping to) and use our God’s gifted talented to inspire people, show them the peace we find in music.

EASTERN MIRROR: How did you come up with your group name “The Finalist”? Any significant story?
The Finalist: We decided on the name ‘The Finalist’ because we were the finalist of the show ‘Naga Hindi Voice S-2, and we thought finalist is best because we had a story as a contestant where we all met, got to know each other where our journey of friendship and making music began. Then we decided to come together as a band on the final day.

EASTERN MIRROR
: Talk us through your
song writing process.
The Finalist: The first song ‘Yeh Safar’ is composed by Akup Noklang and he is also been featured in the song. So the credit goes to him for making the song possible.

EASTERN MIRROR: Unlike Naga musicians who take up English to venture into music, why did you guys take up Hindi music?
The Finalist: Hindi was and is our passion and more over the very less Hindi artist in our state also stands as an opportunity for us through we are from non Hindi speaking community, and if we happen to perform well than our aim is to inspire people that music has no boundaries. It is the string that connects people. We know there is very less Hindi artist in our state and taking it as an opportunity we came up with this motive.

EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your recently released song.
The Finalist: ‘Yeh safar’ is a love song on the journey one had and one can dedicate this song to any of his loves ones.

EASTERN MIRROR: Whats next for you guys?
The Finalist: We will be releasing different types of song in future. We are planning to come up with another song next year.
