Kohima, Dec. 18 (EMN): Rev. Fr. OC Abraham, former director of St. Joseph’s Children Home, celebrated golden jubilee of his priestly ordination and presided over the mass as the main celebrant on Sunday at St. Francis de Sales (SFS) parish in the state capital, Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Dr. Joe Mariadhas, director of Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Chümoukedima, lauded Rev. Fr. OC Abraham for rendering his service towards the church and needy people. Fr. Dr. Mariadhas stated Rev. Fr. OC Abraham had discerned his dream to serve God by praying and tirelessly catering to the service of those in need.
He commended Rev. Fr. Abraham for constructing houses to provide shelter to homeless people and congratulated him on his 50th anniversary of his priesthood. Rev. Fr. Mariadhas reminded the faithful to persist in prayers at a time when they are in confusion so that God would enable them to live the way He wanted them to be.
Fr. OC Abraham, while acknowledging the love and support showered by the congregation on the occasion, recalled the times he served as the parish priest of SFS church in Kohima town two decades ago. He shared that it was during that time at the parish, where he ‘listened to the word of God and decided to do what was next in his life.’
The 81-year-old servant of God, while highlighting some of the activities he has undertaken such as building home and chapel for the homeless, reminded that “faith and good work will save us totally and completely.”
The parishioners, while felicitating Fr. Abraham, expressed delight at having him at their parish on the occasion for his good deeds.
During the service, Fr. Abraham also invoked God’s blessings for the new office bearers of Angami Catholic Union (ACU) SFS, Angami Catholic Women Association (ACWA) SFS, and Men’s Association SFS.
