Refreshers’ training course for animal health workers

A two-day refreshers’ training course for village animal health workers under Kohima district was held from July 10 to 11 at SMETI Training Hall & AICPR-Pig, NU-SASRD , organized NEPED-NRTT & AICRP-Pig, NU-SASRD, Medziphema.
Speaking to the trainees, Shuyhunle Nyenthong, District Incharge NEPED-NRTT said the trainees should learn maximum during the two-day refresher training, adding they should have free access to clear their doubts from the resource person and encourage other fellow farmers to improve piggery rearing.
Practical on proper handling of animals, administration of medicines, wound dressing, deworming and minor surgical operations are some of the highlights perform in practical session. Application of identification mark (ear tag) for livestock insurance, prevention and control of classical swine fever through vaccination, personal health and hygiene for animal health workers were topics covered by the resource persons Dr. M. Catherine Rutsa Assistant Professor LPM Department NU SASRD, Medziphema, Dr. Rüüsalie Nakhro JRF AICRP on Pig, Dr. Atouzo Pienyu & Dr.Vihielie Sanchu SMS NEPED- NRTT.
Valedictory was chaired by Dr. Atouzo Pienyu (SMS) NEPED-NRTT and Kepenyhun from Sendenyu village (trainee) expressed gratitude to the organizing team for the facilities provided, particularly the practical aspects, which have, helped them to build their confidence and requested the authority and the government departments to conduct such refreshers course for animal health workers from time to time. Another trainee expressed desire to learn on concentrate pig feed computation. Professor N.S. Jamir, Pro- Vice Chancellor NU SASRD, Medziphema during his exhortation in the valedictory function expressed his happiness to meet the 13 trainees from 11 villages of Kohima district. He said they should go back home and work actively and educate other fellow farmers too, to improve their livelihood. Successful people are hard working; work like ants, stored up food for the future, utilize new technologies and practical learning need to be disseminated to others he said. Congratulating all the trainees, resource persons and organizers handed over the packet of first aid medicines to the trainees provided by the organizer.
